Explanation

The ‘Alai Darwaza’ was constructed by Sultan Alauddin Khalji near the Qutub Minar. It was built using red sandstone and marble. It was completed in 1311 A.D. Like Iltutmish’s tomb, it has a large square chamber with a dome on the roof, and on each of its four walls there is an arched entrance gateway.
