Explanation

On 10 June and 24 June 1930, the Simon Commission’s report was published in two parts. Indian political organizations rejected the Commission’s recommendations. At the time the report was published, the main Congress leaders were in jail. In an atmosphere of disappointment and dissatisfaction, the British government convened the First Round Table Conference in London in November 1930. About 89 representatives participated, but no representative from the Congress attended. The prominent Indian participants included—Tej Bahadur Sapru, V. S. Srinivasa Sastri, Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Shafi, Aga Khan, Fazlul Haq, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Homi Modi, M. R. Jayakar, Moonje, B. R. Ambedkar, and Sundar Singh Majithia.
