Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (d) Shishir Kumar Ghosh

Explanation

The Amrita Bazar Patrika was founded by Motilal Ghosh and Shishir Kumar Ghosh in 1868 in Amrita Bazar village (now in Jessore district, Bangladesh). However, due to an epidemic in the village, its office was shifted to Calcutta in 1871. Initially, it was published in the Bengali language. To escape the Vernacular Press Act, 1878, the newspaper was converted overnight into an English-language publication. Girish Chandra Ghosh started The Bengalee in 1862, which was taken over by S.N. Banerjee in 1879.
