Explanation

Zorawar Singh, the commander-in-chief of Dogra ruler Gulab Singh of Jammu and Kashmir and the Governor of Kishtwar, led successful military campaigns in Ladakh, Baltistan and some parts of Tibet between 1834 and 1841. He was killed in battle during the Western Tibet campaign (1841). Under the Treaty of Amritsar (March 1846), the colonial rulers sold Kashmir to Gulab Singh for 75 lakh rupees. Maharaja Gulab Singh unified Jammu and Kashmir.
