Correct answer: (a) 1, 2, 3 and 4

Explanation

On 4 February 1922, a Congress and Khilafat procession was taken out at Chauri-Chaura (Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh). Some policemen misbehaved with them; as a result, a group within the procession attacked the police. The police opened fire, which further enraged the crowd, and the crowd again attacked the police. The policemen ran into the police station, and the crowd set it on fire. After receiving news of this incident, Gandhiji decided to withdraw the movement. In the Congress Working Committee meeting held at Bardoli on 12 February 1922, it was decided to suspend the movement. Taking advantage of this situation, the government arrested him on 10 March 1922 and, on 18 March 1922, sentenced him to six years’ imprisonment. Thus, option (a) is the correct answer.
