On the basis of its recommendations, the bill passed in March, 1919 came to be known as the Rowlatt Act. Under the Rowlatt Act, the British government could imprison anyone, without trial, for a maximum of two years. Therefore, this law was called the law of “No appeal, No dalil, No Vakil”.
