Lakshadweep is a group of islands located in the Arabian Sea at a distance of about 220–440 km from the Kochi coast of Kerala. It is a Union Territory of India with a total area of 32 sq km. The northernmost inhabited island is Chetlat, and the southernmost island is Minicoy, which is separated from the remaining islands by the 9° Channel. Kavaratti is the capital of Lakshadweep. The largest island is Andrott.
