Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (a) C.R. Das
Explanation
After being released from jail in 1922, Chittaranjan Das was declared the elected President of the Congress conference at Gaya. After the end of the Non-Cooperation Movement, Deshbandhu, through the council-entry programme (that is, non-cooperation from within the councils), tried to give a new direction to Indian politics. However, leaders like C. Rajagopalachari, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, S. Srinivasa Iyengar, etc., opposed the policy of entering the councils. In this session, a resolution not to enter the councils was passed; as a result, Chittaranjan Das resigned. After this, he founded the Swaraj Party from within the Congress.
