Show answer and explanation

Correct answer: (b) 1872

Explanation

The Native Marriage Act, also called the Civil Marriage Act, was passed in 1872, largely through the efforts of Keshab Chandra Sen of the Brahmo Samaj. It allowed inter-caste and inter-religious marriages, fixed minimum ages for marriage (14 for girls, 18 for boys) and banned polygamy for those who married under it. But those who married under it had to declare that they did not belong to any religion.
