Who founded the Brahmo Samaj?

Correct answer: (c) Raja Ram Mohan Roy

Explanation

Raja Ram Mohan Roy founded the Brahmo Sabha in Calcutta in August 1828; it was later called the Brahmo Samaj. It taught the worship of one formless God, rejected idol worship and caste, and worked against social evils such as sati, which Lord William Bentinck abolished in 1829 after Roy's campaign. After Roy's death, Debendranath Tagore and later Keshab Chandra Sen led it.

• Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj (1875).
• Gopal Krishna Gokhale founded the Servants of India Society (1905).
