Show answer and explanation
Correct answer: (b) Iltutmish
Explanation
The Mongols first appeared on the Indus in 1221, in the reign of Iltutmish. Genghis Khan was chasing Jalal-ud-din Mangbarni, the prince of Khwarazm, who fled to India and asked Iltutmish for shelter.
Iltutmish politely refused, to avoid giving the Mongols a reason to attack, and Genghis Khan turned back. Under Balban and Alauddin Khilji the Mongol raids became a serious danger.
