Correct answer: (c) Gregor Mendel

Explanation

Gregor Johann Mendel (1822–1884), an Austrian monk, is the father of genetics. His work was rediscovered in 1900 by de Vries, Correns and Tschermak.

  • Watson and Crick gave the double helix model of DNA (1953).
  • Charles Darwin gave the theory of evolution by natural selection.
  • Thomas Hunt Morgan showed, with fruit flies, that genes lie on chromosomes.
