Correct answer: (a) Surya Sen

Explanation

The Chittagong Armoury Raid was organized by the revolutionary Surya Sen, popularly known as “Master Da”. Surya Sen founded the Indian Republican Army (I.R.A.) in Bengal. Its prominent members included Ananta Singh, Ambika Chakravarty, Lokinath, Pritilata Waddedar, Ganesh Ghosh, Kalpana Dutt, and Anand Gupta. On 18 April, 1930, Surya Sen declared war against the British. Under his leadership, I.R.A. members attacked the Chittagong armoury and seized weapons. On 22 May, 1930, a clash took place between the I.R.A. members and the army, in which 80 soldiers and 12 revolutionaries were killed. Surya Sen was arrested on 16 February, 1933. He was tried and was hanged on 12 January, 1934.
