Explanation

The 12th Finance Commission, constituted on 1 November 2002, was chaired by Dr. C. Rangarajan, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. The recommendations of the 12th Finance Commission were for the period 2005–10. The 15th Finance Commission was constituted under the chairmanship of N. K. Singh on 27 November 2017. Its recommendations were originally to apply from 2020 to 2025; however, they were implemented in two phases, namely 2020–21 and 2021–26.
