Correct answer: (e) None of the above / More than one of the above

Explanation

The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, launched in April 2018 by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is a major initiative of the Government of Bihar. Its objective is to promote girls’ education and empowerment by providing financial support from birth up to the graduate level. Initially, the Bihar Government allocated a budget of about Rs. 2,221 crore per year for implementation. It is an integrated scheme implemented jointly by multiple departments. The nodal department is the Social Welfare Department, which performs the main coordination role, while the other two departments— Education and Health—provide benefits at different stages. Under this scheme, a girl receives total financial assistance of Rs. 94,100 (in different instalments) from birth till graduation. Notably, earlier this amount was fixed at Rs. 54,100, which was enhanced with approval of the State Cabinet in February 2021. The scheme also provides Rs. 2,000 to the family at the time of the girl child’s birth.
