Explanation

Lord Curzon was the Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905. During his tenure, to carry out educational reforms, he constituted a “University Commission” in 1902 under the chairmanship of Sir Thomas Raleigh. Based on the commission’s recommendations, the Indian Universities Act was passed in 1904. Under this Act, government control over universities increased.
