Explanation
The Champaran Satyagraha (1917) was Mahatma Gandhi’s first Satyagraha in India, launched in Bihar to address the problems of indigo farmers of Champaran. Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan organized an armed group for guerrilla actions against British rule in the Nepal–Terai and Bihar region, which was known as the “Azad Dasta.” Shyam Narayan Singh was among the leading activists from Bihar who participated in the Individual Satyagraha. Swami Sahajanand Saraswati founded the Bihar Provincial Kisan Sabha and became its widely accepted leader. Later, this movement expanded as the All India Kisan Sabha.
